Natural stone flooring is amazing. I have never walked into a home with natural stone flooring and not gone “wow”! It is beautiful, unbelievably resilient and old as, well, rocks!
From the time of the cave men, man has had stone flooring. It started out with the cave floor, but folks caught on pretty quickly. The very first architects and designers used natural stone for their buildings and floors. Think Egyptians and Greeks! Natural stone comes in three different flavours which we use to carve stone floors from. The first, sedimentary is what travertine and limestone are. The second type is Igneous. Granite is a good example of Igneous stone. The last stone type available for stone flooring is Metamorphic. Think slate and Marble, these are examples of Metamorphic stone.
So what are the advantages of having stone flooring in your home? Well, the most immediate and practical is that stone flooring automatically increases the value of your home. Natural stone flooring, while far more affordable nowadays, is still a specialty floor which will fetch a great price for your house. Natural stone is amazing in that is gets better as it ages and it is completely indestructible! It’s durable, water, fire, dirt, stain and scratch resistant so it’s perfect for any floor area.
