There are many themes from which to choose when selecting the décor for a child’s bedroom. Cartoon themes are one of the most popular and common. While there are some cartoons that are timeless and will work as well today as they did 50 years ago, each generation has it’s own favourites to choose from too.
Here are some great ideas highlighting the different types of cartoon themes you could consider choosing for your children’s bedrooms:
In my day it was care bears, in my brother’s it was cow and chicken, but today the cool cartoon for bedroom themes is sponge bob squarepants! In this image the decorator has gone the whole hog! From sponge bob squarepants linen to sponge bob squarepants pillows to sponge bob square pants wall murals, the entire room is all about sponge bob squarepants! I’m a little spongebob’d out after just looking at it, but for some kids, this is a dream come true!
She’s been around for ages, I remember her as a child, but Hello Kitty has experienced a recent revival and has been gaining popularity ever since. Here we see a gorgeous Hello Kitty bedroom. I love the way this decorator has made it very clearly Hello Kitty without overdoing it! And the decorator has managed to successfully combine both neon bright colours with the traditional vivid red of the Hello Kitty cartoon. I love the Hello Kitty mural on the cupboard.
This decorator has gone with an unconventional but well known cartoon: Dr Seuss. Can you spot the green eggs and ham? I love the wacky way in which this room has been decorated! The decorator has remained very true to the story using typically Dr Seuss colour schemes. Bold Pink, vivid red, pale purple and emerald green make for an odd colour palette and yet they work in a very funky way for Dr Seuss! I love that the bedding is fluffy like in the book and that even the pictures are hung crooked!
Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit is a wonderful traditional cartoon theme for children’s bedrooms. In this image, along with the beautiful and detailed mural on the wall, the decorator has also used a beautiful vintage style wrought iron bed with peter rabbit bed knobs! This room is all in pink, but it would be very easy to substitute in white or blue for a little boys room too.
