There is never enough space in a childs room! Regardless of how big the room, a child will still manage to take up every ounce inch of available space with his or her “stuff”. The solution: storage, lots and lots of storage! Cupboards, drawers, boxes, chests and shelves are the answer!
But how then does one manage to make the room look like a child’s and not an actual store room? And how, if you do achieve this mean feat, does one make things easy to find and also to pack away? Shelves are a fabulous way to store and display your children’s “stuff” and there are many different styles and ideas for you to choose from
Here are some fun shelving ideas for your children’s rooms that will add to the room’s décor and make plenty of space!
These portable wire rack shelves are wonderfully versatile! For your toddler they can be used to hold nappies, changes of clothes, nappy change toiletries, soft toys and for older kids they can be used to hold stationary, drawing books, toys, shoes… basically anything. What is great about them is that you can see everything in them so, when children learn to tidy, everything is visible, and for parents in a hurry, no scratching about!
A similar concept to the wire rack shelf is this funky wire drawer. Clipped onto shelving as seen here, these lovely drawers will double up on space immediately! And both wire rack shelves and these under shelf drawers will last for a long time and can be reinvented to suite your child’s room as he or she grows.
Another fabulous yet simple shelving ideas is to utilise book shelves. This set of book shelves has been revamped and made more fun visually by using brightly coloured tubs and boxes to hold all sorts of different things in it along with the books. So instead of just books, this set of shelves now holds everything from toys to clothes too! It is also the right height to be accessible to children, so when they start learning to tidy up after themselves now they can reach, and have fun doing so!
This is also a lovely idea, labelled baskets, neatly stored in a cupboard, which can be either open or closed, looks tidy, provides more space, and if your child is just learning to read, helps them associate names with items, so educational too!
These shelves I just love! For themed rooms having a set of fun shaped shelves makes for a very visually pleasing effect, and of course it makes the whole room more fun for children!

Again the boxes and themed shelves are the best ideas. I don’t like the wire shelves and drawers.
These ideas are adorable!
well thought out ideas still to decide what to adapt. well done.
