Childrens bedrooms and play rooms are always great fun to decorate! There is just so much to choose from when it comes to the décor one can put into a child’s room. Many people paint on the walls. Murals and vinyl stickers are very popular with parents and they make beautiful, bold and fun statements on any wall, but maybe you are looking fror something a little different for your childs room!

There are many other ways of decorating childrens walls that can be equally as attractive and a great deal of fun. Here are a few examples of funky childrens wall décor ideas for you to look at:

When children are young, we get them flash cards. Flash cards are a great way of teaching your children the beginnings of their ABC’s, and they are designed to be fun and pretty and eyecatching. Once the initial teaching phase is over, why not string them up in a pretty pattern and hang them on the walls!

This is a very funky idea and could be used with anything, not just birdhouses! Create your background wall mural, in this instance a tree, and then add three dimensional objects to the mural. Here the decorator has used birdhouses to give the impression of a little world full of sweet feathered friends, but you could do this with fairies, flowers, fish in the ocean, basically anything!

How about an interesting clock made out of shadow boxes? Ok this particular idea could be used for grown-ups as well as children! Find yourself twelve different sized deep box frames, or even twelve of the same size depending on the look you would like to achieve. Fill them with whatever you want, patterned paper, stuffed toys, plastic flowers, whatever you like and arrange them around a clock mechanism, which is easy to pick up at the local hardware or craft store.

Instead of the usual row of straight shelves, why not choose something a little more funky? these zigzag bookshelves are great fun and become a décor feature all by themselves. You can even paint them different colours to match which ever them you choose.

Your children always bring home all sorts of art and craft from school. What better way to display them than by hanging them up! You can frame them as they are or have a little fun, as in this picture, and hang them with pretty pieces of material in banners that can be strung up on the wall!
