Children love houses, their own little homes to play in and make their own. From the moment they can conceive of it, children start to mimic their moms and dads in keeping house. For boys it’s tree house, where they can stash secret stuff and defend their territory from a high vantage point. For girls it’s the wendy house or the doll’s house, where they can decorate, bake, and make lovely homes for their dolls. And before you say I’m perpetuating the sexist cycle of men’s and women’s traditional roles, I’m all for girls in tree houses and boys with doll houses, my point is, that boys and girls love to play in and with houses.
Ordinarily, these houses, be they wendy or tree, are found outside. But occasionally, and in the case of doll houses, tree houses and wendy houses can be incorporated into the furniture of a childs bedroom. And lets face it, during winter, or as it gets dark I would definitely prefer my child to be playing inside in his or her house then out!
Here are a couple of gorgeous examples of inside tree houses and wendy houses for childrens rooms:
This room has been decorated with an outdoor, camping theme. The decorator has built a gorgeous little mock tree house and fort complete with Rope Bridge above the bed. I think the added touch of camp chair and mini weber braai in the foreground is just adorable.
In this bedroom the decorator has incorporated a little girls bed into a doll house! This gorgeous vintage doll house provides shelf space, storage space and play space for the little girl living in the room. And she gets to sleep in her own doll house! Every little girls dream!
For your little monkey this is the perfect little tree house! Set above the bed this funky little tropical hut style tree house fits in perfectly with the tropical island and monkey themed bedroom. The bamboo frames and palm leaf roof are a fabulous tie in with the rest of the room.
This little fairy tree house on stilts is adorable! It ties in beautifully with the beautiful purple and light blue room décor tem. A lovely touch is the way in which the furniture and linen all mach the outside of the tree house. A gorgeous touch is the fake grass carpet and the lovely oversized toadstools on the floor beneath!
