Having strand woven bamboo floors is a plus when it comes to durability. The way that these planks are manufactured, by being pressed and flattened under high pressure, makes them better equipped for high traffic zones. With that said, strand woven has a high resistance to scratches and dents. But this doesn’t mean your floor has a force field like Thor. It can get damaged. Here are some damage control tips for your Brightfields strand woven bamboo floors.

Although you may feel like it’s the end of your bamboo floor’s world when these happen, scuffs, scratches, and dents are repairable. In fact, it’s fairly easy to restore damaged strand woven floors. All you need is a quick visit to your local hardware store to pick up a few tools. That’s the first step towards restoring your Brightfields floors.

But before you hop in your car, you’ll need to assess the damage so that you know the exact tools required for the repair.  Scuffs are a breeze to fix up as only the wood’s finish is affected and not the bamboo itself. Brightfields recommends, for this type of scratch, a Scratch Cover and Polish. The hardware store will have a variety of colours so you can find a match for your flooring. This also works for very shallow scratches.

If a scratch has penetrated quite deeply, you may need to apply wood filler. One this is done, buff the surface so that it matches the rest of your finish. And for very deed scratches…well, you’ll have to just rip the plank from the floor and start over again! Just joking! You might have to do the ultimate rescue, which involves wet-sanding the area, to make it shallower, and then apply the filler. Top the job off by sealing  the area with a coat of polyurethane for protection.
