I discovered Recreate only recently! Don’t get me wrong, I have seen Katie Thompson’s signature suitcase chairs more than once, I just had no idea until recently that this is where they came from! And wow am I now excited, because Katie Thompson and her fabulous company are proudly South African.

You know how I am always going on about upcycled furniture? Goodness knows there are countless articles in our archives about upcycled furniture which I have raved about in the past! Well here is a South African company producing exactly that! Recreate is a fabulous collection of upcycled furniture designed by Katie Thompson for interior décor. This lady literally takes other peoples junk and turns it into the most fabulously funky range of repurposed furniture I’ve ever seen!

Her cutting edge interior décor concepts are just delightful, she has turned everyday junk items into furniture, lighting and home décor accessories that are clever, contemporary and functional! I would have to say that suitcases are Katies Thompson’s main thing. She has literally turned suitcases into seats, tables, shelves and cupboards, all of which you can find in her product list on her website.

But if you are not into suitcases, that is also alright, Recreate has got a whole collection of other products too. Like Jagermeister table lamps, mannequin floor lamps, cooking pot lid clocks and muffin tin vases!
