2011 Colour Trends in Décor

We just love the way decor colour trends change every year, leaving some gorgeous hues to become staples, and others to fade by the fad wayside! And it looks like this years colour trends for 2011 will be no different! According to colour experts, 2011’s colour trends will remain along the same lines as last years, but the colours will evolve, which, in our humble opinion sounds brilliant and exciting!

In terms of application, we will see the same theories  for decor as last year applied, with a broad range of neutral colours being utilized as base colours with bold splashes of varied colour creating interest and life. The trend will no longer be to fill your home with predominantly beige or off white with a few shy or conservative accents. Bright blasts of vivid and rich colour will permeate and extend beyond walls and ceilings to incorporate furniture, light fixtures, window treatments and accessories.

Here are the main colours for decor we can look forward to seeing more of in 2011:

Honey Suckle Pink

This lovely and vibrant shade of pink replaces last years Fuschia as the hottest pink trend. Still a bold choice for the homeowner to use bravely, Honey suckle pink will be carried through every season. Whether you use it to romance up your bedroom or as a bold statement on furniture, Honey Suckle Pink is it!

Vintage Wine Burgundy

This wonderful warm grapey red is tipped to be the hottest colour of 2011. It’s dark and sensual and would look oh so good on the ceiling or carpet! Vintage wine is the perfect warm winter colour, as reflected on international fashion runways for the last few years. Now you can spice up your home with the same colour in your candles, bedpreead or maybe even a couch. Sultry vintage wine as evolved from last years plum for the winter win!

Citrus Yellow.

We said it before, but we really are thrilled to see yellow maintaining it’s spot in 2011’s colour trend palette! Instead of the darker egg yolk yellow of last year, this year we see fresh and zesty citrus yellow in all of it’s neon perfection! Paint the walls, get yourself a vibrant throw, even painting the barn door in citrus yellow this year would be fabulous!

Green Green Green

No matter the shade or tone, green is absolutely in for 2011. Avodaco has replaced lime, but with the insurgence of “green” technologies and the worlds sudden attachment to ecofriendliness, green in all it’s glory is the way forward.

Dark Midnight Blue

Darker shades are being found to replace black this year, and Dark Midnight Blue will one of them! Paint the ceiling or an accent wall, select a wonderfully dark paisley wall paper print, and lets not forget that traditional blue and white ceramics and floral prints are making a huge comeback this season, all in dark Midnight blue!

No more deep reds this season! 2011’s hottest red is HOT red! Think letterbox, fire engine and stop signs! Hot chilli red is the perfect colour for your new couch, or how about getting some Fire engine red high gloss bathroom cabinets and a matching bathroom basin! Bright Red is the ultimate bold 2011 trend!
