Winter is well and truly here again! Temperatures dropping and days getting shorter are sure signs that it’s time to break out the heaters, blankies, extra duvets and winter décor!
As far as colours go, this year’s winter season sees the continuation of or expansion on summer’s themes. With Eco-design and green friendly décor on everyone’s lips and minds it is little wonder that earth and nature toned colours are a must for winter décor’s colour palette.
If you are looking at redecorating for winter in warmer tones you should definitely consider rich reds, plum and aubergine tones, think earthy red clay, sun baked terracotta, warm berries or vintage wines!
Brown is making a big comeback this season in all shades from dark lindt chocolate to milky cappuccino. But this season’s big neutral or earthy tone is camel, otherwise know as bamboo to the decorative masses.
Drawing further inspiration from nature, we see green featuring in this season’s winter décor colour palette. But unlike summers lush and vibrant lime and apple greens, winter is going to be more soothing. Picture soft moss, forest greens, avocado and peppermint tones of green for walls and linen.
Metallics are still in if you want to create a sense of the lavish, with everything from bronze to gold to shining silver being an acceptable addition to your choice of colour.
Turquoise is still on the most popular list, but if you are looking for cooler colours, this season’s newest colour addition is icy sky blue.
As well as the warmer plum and berry tones of purple, this season is offering up the cooler hues of lavender and lilac for your winter décor colour palette if you are a purple lover.
In terms of colour combinations, there are certain themes that are definitely worth considering for this seasons winter décor. Purple and brown or bronze will certainly cosy up any room and beat of the winter chill. Turquoise and gold or icy blue and silver will add a touch of decadence and green and brown or green and blue with invoke the calming and soothing effects of nature.

Pics 1-4 are very fifties colours, but I do like the others which are far richer and yet understated colours.
