It’s the rainy season in Cape Town’s Mother City! Although buildings were erected to keep the elements out, sometimes Mother Nature reigns champion by showing us who’s boss! It may through damp creeping in through the walls, or the more unavoidable leak in the ceiling. Drip, drip, drip! Get rid of the water-filled pots and pails for good with Cemcrete’s Roofseal!
Cemcrete’s Roofseal is an extremely durable, easy-to-apply membrane system for concrete roofs. The pack will come with an acrylic primer and a polyester membrane. The Roofseal is used more particularly for roofs that are waterproofed but not vapour proof. Roofseal, thus, allows slightly damp concrete to dry out. It will also protect your from UV rays.
This may throw a slight spanner in the works for the diehard alpha males out there, but Cemcrete’s Roofseal is sort of applied like a base and top coat nail polish. Use it as as base coat before applying paint – ie. as a primer or bonding coat. It is also suitable as an impregnating sealing coat, as well as, second impregnating sealing coat, And then the final sealing coat is applied. The final coat is applied when all the work is dry – a minimum of 3 days.
When applying Cemcrete’s Roofseal, it is important to ensure the surface is clean and dry. Use a paintbrush, roller or broom to apply the Roofseal liberally. Once this priming process is done, leave it to dry for at least 3 hours. Liberally apply another coat then roll out the membrane over the wet Roofseal and immediately paint another coat on top of the membrane. Repeat this until work is done.
The Cemcrete Roofseal/polyester sandwich will take about 3-4 days to dry out, depending on the weather. Once it is dry, apply a final finishing coat of Roofseal. Wash all equipment thoroughly in water.
